Friday, January 21st, 2005 at 1:36pm - i "discovered" this "review"
|
i don't have much to do today work-wise (or otherwise, really) so i've been wasting my time on the internet and i came across this amazing review on amazon, it's for the movie dogfight with river pheonix.
"I saw this movie for the first time only quite recently, when I "discovered" I got into sobriety the exact day that River's autopsy was signed, "coincidentally."...I like that it's set in the Vietnam era, too, because I was born then, and it is "relevant" to me. I confess, though--I had never heard of this movie, until I "figured it out" about River's autopsy "getting me" into sobriety. Him and the Virgin Mary. It's a long story."
so of course i looked up this woman's other reviews. they are seriously fucking crazy. the one i posted is the most sane. here are her other reviews, they are worth the time to read, believe me.

"For most people around the shores across the region, the only warning Sunday of the disaster came when shallow coastal waters disappeared, sucked away by the approaching tsunami, before returning as a massive wall of water. The waves wiped out villages, lifted cars and boats, yanked children from the arms of parents and swept away beachgoers, scuba divers and fishermen."

"Enkidu was fascinated by the woman, and he spent six days and seven nights with her. He forgot the grassy plain where he had been born, the hills where he had roamed, and the wild animals that had been his companions. Later, when he was ready to rejoin the wild beasts of the plain, they sensed that Enkidu was now a human being. Even the gazelles drew away from him in fright.
Enkidu was so surprised by their change in behavior that, at first, he stood completely still. When he tried to rejoin them, he found that he could no longer run with the speed of a gazelle. He was no longer the wild man that he had been. However, he had gained something in return for the speed that he had lost, for he now possessed greater understanding and wisdom. He returned to the woman, sat down at her feet, and looked into her face attentively."
i read that in mythology class today and it struck me as really sad.
